    Default Troubled by turtles

Been running trot lines down at Rend Lake the last couple weekends, I've been using a mix of chicken thighs, cut shad, and hot dogs. I think I've caught more turtles than I have catfish.

I've read that garlic can help keep the turtles away so I will be marinating my baits in garlic powder/garlic salt before the next trip.

Any other tips? Attachment 406777Name: PXL_20210724_135434093.jpg

I was fishing for carp recently and was plagued by turtles. I searched Google high and low for a solution but found nothing.

I'm gonna try surface fishing to see if I can avoid the turtles.

Ya'll don't have enough Cajuns up there to help eat the turtles.

I grew up in Mobile Alabama. I do miss the cajun influence in the food up here.
I did run into a fella in a small seafood restaurant. I order a shrimp po boy. He asked did I want it REAL Cajun seasoned.
2 bites in and my hair was sweaty. That fella right there meant it. Sure was good

OK, let's back on topic (you Turtle Eaters can start your own thread, lol). I'd like to know more about whether Garlic keeps them off your baits. Can anyone confirm that it works or does not work?
