    Default bowfin as cutbait?

iv been setting out bank poles for cats atm i cannot catch a single bluegill or anytype of smaller fish in the creek im fishing guess due to being feb they just arnt n shallows like normal and i need cutbait i caught a 12 pound bowfin which i absolutely hate was curious if it would make for good cut bait? i heard the meats really soft though so not sure if it would stay on the hooks well

ive been using small spotted bass as bait cutting up into pieces n having good sucess would you think bowfin would work? they say the more oilythe fish the better i heard bowfin are very oily

I've caught cats on them... If I don't cut them up for cats, I cut them up to throw in a crabpot..

I've never tried Bowfins, (I thinking its what we call mudfish) but 2 types of bait I know works REAL good is Jackfish Or(chain pickerel) and Eels, Eel cut in small chunks Jackfish scale and cut in square pieces.
    If you don't get hung every-once-n-a-while you ain't jigg'n it right..:D

Dogfish stink bad enough to be good catfish bait...
Be sure to wear your plastic gloves when handling them, the stink is difficult to wash off your hands.
