    Default Gigging Carp

Anybody do it? We have a problem with carp getting into our native sucker stream and it seems to be legal to gig them here. Would a normal frog gig work or should I give it something stronger? I'll be in my kayak. Thanks!

I used to bow hunt for carp and they are pretty tough. Heavy duty frog gig might work but I would probably upgrade to a true fish gig with the heavier forks. I like these http://www.sbtoutdoors.com/fish_spears.htm and only other advice is learn how to sharpen the points. My frog gig is a SS version and bent it a few times taking carp because they kept banging the canoe.

Ah; do you use outriggers on your canoe by the way? I have a low profile sit on top kayak so about as stable as a canoe, just seemed a little tipsy.
