These were resident dock fish. I've been off the pond since October but a friend is still catching some. You won't find a bunch - when the Shad or Shiners come in, the bigger ones get active. I found some 14" fish in front of the island this year, ~17 FOW. Don't land many because I am Bluegill fishing in flooded timber.

Prankster was telling me that he was finding Crappie way back in the east end when the wind pushed the baitfish back there. There is so much flooded timber now and there is going to be more!
You need to talk to Crappie Mike - he posts on here sometimes and he is out of LA.

Hello there from Ohio stationed in so cal are any of the crappie in pre spawn right now. I would appreciate if anyone had any advice on lakes that are producing. I’ve been fishing crapping since I was little with my grandpa I’m (26) now I have fished lake Hodges twice now they have some slabs in there caught some last summer over there but the rain messed up the lake. Just looking for a lake/Reservoir to fish.

Check out San Vicente - they have monster panfish. Heard Vail Lake is supposed to be opening - this is a CRAPPIE lake! Lake Perris is probably going to have it's best Crappie season this year. Problem is - nobody fishes for them.

Lot of people fish for big Coppernose & bigger Red Ear also.

You might want to check out the Tilapia at Lake Hodges - Crappie are biting there right now. Lake Perris is in the upper 60s already, so the Crappie should be in the shallows. Waiting for the rain to stop so I can get out!!!

Clear Lake is a long way from you, but you did ask for good crappie lakes in California.

I take two of my kids out to Perris a lot and they are dying to catch a crappie. I have not been able to find any as of yet though.
