Welcome from Oxnard. You will meet a lot of great people out here and learn a lot about crappie fishing.
Bill, I am one of those looky loos that just signed up. My name is Mike and I live in Bakersfield. I fish Lake Isabella alot, but am not the expert. I picked the name because it seems like sometimes we do more drifting then catching. Sometimes the boy and I are on it and sometimes were not. We fish Isabella 2 or 3 times a month, mostly because I can fish in the morning and check on my mom and help her out in the afternoons. We also fish Lake Crowley several times a year. We enjoy catching the Sacramento Perch as much as trout. They make great tacos.

My name is Jim Isaac. I usually go by my nickname, Ike.
I live in San Diego and fish our local resevoirs. My favorites for crappie are Lower Otay, El Capitan and San Vicente.
If you intend to fish a San Diego resevoir you should know:
1. The concessions are closed, no coffee, no snacks and no bait. Have it with you when you get there.
2. El Capitan is being drawn down so they can work on the dam. I have seen reports that say the level is down about 2.5 feet each week. I have no idea how much longer the launch ramp will be accessable.
Tight lines
Hi there Ike, Welcome to the forum. I hear ya, several year ago they drew down one of our local lakes to work on the damn. Wow it was low, we have gotten three good years of rain and it still isn't full. But it is coming back and so is the fishin. Hang in there. And keep us posted about the fishing in San Diego.

Welcome Ike. I heard that fishing down there was pretty good. Never made it down that way. I live north of LA if you are ever up this way and want to fish hit me up. I know a couple lakes pretty good where we could catch some crappie.
