    Default Restocking of Elizabeth lake

I have been trying to contact Ed Pert of fish and game fisheries dept for the last few days about checking out Elizabeth lake. It seems elizabeth lake had a majior fish kill about 2 years ago eliminating most if not all of the Crappie, Bass and Catfish. Right now the lake should be getting high enough with recent rains that stocking should be beneficial. Elizabeth lake has been a unknown crappie lake previous to its drought and fish kill. It was jam packed with small crappie, which is a rareity around the los angeles area. I as said before have started calling and will continue to do so until something is done.

    Default Update

I got a hold of DFG fisheries Biologist Dwan Maxwell today, He would be incharge of Elizabeth lake as far as DFG is concirned. It seem he knew about the fish kill 2 years ago, went out and surveyed the lake and found that the disolved Oxygen level had dropped and killed the fish. Well, he told me the lake is slated for stocking NEXT YEAR, stocked with trout. I had to inform him DFG is already currently stocking the lake with trout last a heard. And so far they have no interest, plans or money to stock it with anything but trout. And by the way he stated they did not have any sources for bass and crappie, wow our tax dollars are really going to work here in Ca. I called Ed pert back with Sacramento DFG and reinformed him of the situation. Boy if FISH and game dont know where to find fish, maybe they should be hiring me.
