    Default Bimini Top

Hey guys I have a 2006 Tracker 170tx that’s I’d like to put a Bimini top on for the kids. My concern is having clearance for both the front deck and rear fishing seats. I don’t want it coming in contact with us when we’re trying to fish out of both seats. I see the most popular size looks to be 6’ long but when I measure it out on my boat it looks like it’ll be interfering with at least one seat. Does anyone else here have a 170tx with Bimini top? If so, what size?

A Bimini is both a blessing and a curse. It's worth its weight in gold when the sun is beating down or it's raining. Besides those times, it'll always be in the way in some form or fashion. They make poles to keep them up and "kinda" out of the way which I suggest is a good investment. I've had several boats with bimini's and wouldn't be without one but you need to carefully plan on the optimum installation for it to be out of the way as much as possible when stored. Also, bigger is better when it comes to a bimini as you'll want as much shade or cover as possible once you decide to deploy it for its benefits.

I would totaly agree with this, the curse part for me is why i dont ever use the biminni i have.
I would explore the use of beach umbrellas instead of a biminni as nothing is ever in the way.
Just be sure to tie them down.

Same here, love the blessing but hate the curse of them.
Looks like you must decide how much coverage you want, and how much inconvenience you can stand, and bring it together.
I guess that is what lead me to buy the biggest Tilly Vented Hat I could get, and put it on when The hook goes in the water!

A big hat is fine but it does little to protect other parts of the body, and after awhile it can become an annoyance at least for me.
I find that the umbrella directly over and as close above my head as possible eliminates the need for any hat at all.
The only downside is moving the boat from one location to another at higher speed.
But a push of a button folds the thing down, and it can be removed totaly in a few seconds.

I've got a 2013 tracker 175tf and went with a six ft and the wife loves it. I'd suggest temporarily mounting it to two 2x4s and hooking the straps to the cleats and then position it to where you want it. Good luck !!
May all the fish tales you catch be longer than the ones you tell !
Thanks skunked again thanked you for this post

I am looking at a pontoon in the next couple of months. I think a bimini there would work out awesome.

    You can’t have a toon without a top. That’s just wrong…. ?

That's my thoughts. The older I get the less I want to be in the sun. Not to mention it would be a great place to be under in the rain
