    Default Noodle on rod holders?

Why does everyone have pool noodle or insulation on their t-bar rod holders? Just to make them float if they get dropped?

Maybe to rest a rod on and not ding up the rod or make a bunch of noise when you hit a rod into it?

I think most have them on their rod holders for other reasons, like a place to hook jigs onto & whatnot. But, that being said, it would serve that purpose (floating a dropped T-bar) ... but, I'd test the ability of a couple of sections of noodle to be able to float an errantly dropped T-bar, just to make sure it can.

I had some noodle sections on my Hi-tek rod holders, at first, simply to hook a few jigs onto so as not to have to dig in my tackle box/bag to find a replacement (and/or have a tackle tray out on the deck, in the Sun or in my way). They did kinda get in the way, best I can remember, so I took them off.

Here's a pic .... but, this pic was taken to show the cup holder & not the noodle sections.
