It had vines growing out of it . It sat, uncovered, for 17 years.
A good friend got it home , via a rollback truck. He got a gift card to Bass pro!
Cleaned it out. Still had rods in the rod box, lures in a box, old life jackets, oil in the oil reservoir, fuel in the fuel tank.
Made an engine stand. Borrowed a cherry picker from same friend. Removed the engine, squirted some lube in the cylinders, turned it over by hand, and it turned! Fresh fuel, Turned the key, it fired!
Three new carb kits, fuel pump kit, lubed the starter, water jacket gasket, impeller/fluid, new spark plugs, replaced every fuel line. Some other parts also. Cleaned out the mud dobber nests from inside the mid section, and lots of other places!
Put it back together, sounded alot better.
Made a "shelf" for the top cap. This way I can still park utility trailer under it.

Removed the trash, foam, stringers (what was left of them). The transom wood I removed with a shop vac. Cut out the inner skin of the transom . At this point of the project, I lost interest.
Prior to starting this project, I picked up a part time job.

As it sits currently. Transom and stringers are epoxied in. Need to fiberglass them and the transom. I'm going too add some knee braces from stringers too the transom.
Transom is two 3/4" pieces of marine grade plywood, laminated together .

I bought a 36 volt 112# maxxum pro, I know it's overkill, but I thought it was a good deal. Instead of 4 batteries in the rear, I was contemplating putting the trolling batteries in the center, under the floor. With an access hatch/lid.

This would be in front of the fuel tank, and driver/passenger seats. The fuel tank on this boat sits centered, between driver/pass seats and the rear livewell and storage box.
    I plan on installing a 6" jackplate.
    Thoughts?

I thought the restoration project that I did on my 98 Express was in depth. Awesome project that you've undertaken. I'm excited to see your project going forward.

What a cool project. Way more than I would want to currently take on. Nice work so far.

Thanks all! I'm definitely not going to take close up pics of wood cutting, I can't cut a straight line!
When I pulled the foam out, it was waterlogged. I weighed it. Removed 200#'s of foam.
It's definitely a learning experience. I had never messed with fiberglass before.

Lots of work. A man gets a special bond with a boat when he rebuilds it for sure.

    - Do you think moving the trolling motor batteries forward is a good idea?
I was looking at some of the deep vee boats, most had them at or forward of the mid-line.
Not sure about 4 batteries, and an onboard charger, in the rear.

If you can figure it out at least 2 batteries mid ship would help a lot. Don’t think that strada could take all that extra weight in rear along with motor and charger. You can use a heavy gauge wire from rear to front batteries for 36 with no problem. Trolling motor will never know the difference.
