I like the push button circuit breakers because they are out where you can see them. Plus you don’t have to carry a bunch of spares you can’t find when you need one.

Type depends on your preference. The breakers are handy as Cray said though.

Spend some extra money and get really good switches. I bought mine from Amazon and within a year the switches were coming apart. Good switches are hard to find. I'm still not sure who makes a good one. I'm replacing mine as the fall apart with switches from a local boat dealer. I can't remember the name of them.

Coming along nicely. I didn’t read about the dreaded black stuff til just now. My skiff had 5200 to remove and it laughed at anything but a razor which damaged the gel coat. Took a chance and a wire brush in a drill ( battery ) peeled it rightoff and didn’t damage gel coat.

I also believe you did well refitting things, always trial and error. Just remember to grind back into the glass on both sides when you reglass. They separated my hulls and ground out my boxes and live wells. When they reattached they ground about 4” both sides and brushed black gel coat on after. Owned the boat 8 years after that and never had any issues. Watching this thread and others makes me want to pick up a project but have no garage, so that’s out. Have fun and be patient, it’s looking good.

    Thanks all!
Removing the "black stuff", I got into the gel (what was left of it). The hull needs repainted also.
I spent some time and de-wired the boat. Having the top cap off the boat really makes that alot easier !! In doing so, found more "paper mache" (rotted plywood) in more spots. Where it was used as backer/filler board, for light sockets, dash panels, etc. Oh well, I was planning on filling those holes anyway.
If it wasn't for having the extra garage, Im not sure how this would be going. Especially working with the resins, and the odor it gives off. We won't even talk about Sanding the fiberglass......

    - Couple questions -

    - I'm going to be cutting out the front and rear decks, that wood is shot also. Any suggestions for this? Oscillating tool with metal blade? Save the cutouts for templates?
    - Anyone have a good source for a tachometer, and fuel gauge?
    - Can a water pressure gauge be used with a '87 Mariner 115hp ? I've never had one, wanting to add one, if possible.

I'd use an angle grinder and a cutting disk to cut anything out but we use them every day at the shop. Make absolutely certain that you use wear eye protection and leather gloves if you use that. Definitely wear a respirator while cutting the fiberglass too.

You should be able to use a water pressure gauge as long as you have a removable plug on the motor to hook it up to. IIRC, they hook up on the cylinder head, maybe the thermostat housing. I don't remember.

On a separate note, they had vexus their, the price was over $100k ! ! ! For a 20 something foot boat!! Unreal.
Could use a main breaker on the power wire (close to the battery) that feeds a distribution block with fuses for each individual circuit. The switch panel would have to be separate.

There are also switch panels that have inline fuses for each circuit. This is what I have in my boat, although I kind of wish I had gone with a separate panel.

I like the idea of a main fuse/breaker by the battery.
    Thank you for the links!
Leaning more towards individual switches with resettable breakers beside them. It will be more money, and time to drill each hole , however I do like the look of that.
