There where a couple times, after this issue started, it would work properly and would run at 4800rpm, for a 1/2 mile, then start surging.

Tackled (pun intended) the rod locker lid situation. Here's the result -

    Thanks!
I primed the fuel bulb, fuel came out the front of at least one carb, there's three of them. I think I need to pull them off, and check them out.

The "palma horse" seat fits like glove! When I made this locker, I had this seat in mind. Not sitting as you see it though, that was a mistake, one that worked out for the best!!!

    tlefire - Thank You!
No update on the engine, haven't touched it. Been working on the lids. All of the lids now have locking latches, most now have gas struts. My reason for doing this, over working on the engine, I want a solid surface to walk on. I about busted my butt on the initial test run.

With any luck, this weekend I'll remove the carb's, go through them. Take the fuel pump apart, check it out. Check the fuel filter. Test it again after that. If I still have a problem, I might have to buy a timing light. I have no experience with that though, another learning opportunity! Unless I'm overlooking something else?????
Last summer, I replaced all fuel lines with original size, rebuilt the carbs, and fuel pump. I'm wondering, since it sat a year, if I "caused" a problem. The fuel tank has also been cleaned, with some wonderful guidance from this site!! I did add some seafoam to the tank.
