Cool Live well drain tube question for Crestliner sportfishbe

I have a 2004 sportfish. Neither live well aerates. If I leave the live well pump running, is the overflow tube big enough to prevent overtopping the livewell? If not, would adding a livewell drain tube in place of the livewell plug be enough to handle the water along with the regular live well overflow? The plug is 1", and I tried a 1and 1/8 tube once and it wouldn't fit, and I don't see 1" tubes anywhere. Should I just force the 1 and 1/8th? I'd really like to keep my fish alive for as long as possible.

I think the only way to know if it will not overflow is to just try it. Mine will overflow if the pump runs continuously, so I have a timer installed. I had the same problem finding the right size tube. I used a piece of pvc that was a little too big and just reduced the outside diameter of it with sandpaper until it fit snugly. They also make a rubber grommet to fit between your drain hole and the tube for a snug fit, but you end up with a smaller diameter tube.

I put a timer on mine too......you can get a timer with three settings at Bass Pro for about 40 bucks.....comes with installation instructions....easy to put on and works great..... keep fish alive and saves your battery too.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Thanks. I really need to just get on the water and not fish and check these things out. Of course that means none of my friends will be going along I think I'll grab one of the overflow tubes from T-H or somewhere like that and fiddle with it till I get it right. The timer might have to wait as I'm sure not brave enough to wire it!
