Default Jack Plates, the Pros & Cons

I'm considering a Hyd. JP., but before I jump in at full throttle , I'd appreciate some experienced feedback on problems and complications when adding a JP. Also , Id like recc.s on reliable brands to consider purchasing....I think I want a SeaStar which will match my power steering system.
Leaning towards adding a MinnKota Talon shallow water anchor soon also and need to know what size of JP set-back I will need to accommodate the anchor.

    Thanks

The Lack Plate is going to set motor back however many inches you get. Let's you raise motor higher and prop stay in clean water. Better hole shot and usually more speed. Lot of times helps stay higher on plain at slower speed. Hydraulic lets you run in much shallower water. Neg is father back motor is more weight aft of centerline stern dips lower in water. Need to add water pressure gauge so you don't lift motor up so high you burn it up. Don't know anything about your mounts for pole. I would take that question straight to manufacturer.

Saw one at 2106 catfish conference last weekend. Bracket for shallow water anchor bolted on Jack Plate. Only cons are price and possibility of losing water pressure by raising motor up to high.
