Question question about front deck on bass boats.....

Looking at using my Cumberland Crappie double seat mount on the front deck of a glass bass boat. I am concerned that this will put to much stress on the outside rod lockers on the front deck. I know that fishermen walk all over the front decks of their boats without any concern, but it just seems to me that the constant pressure of a seat base on top of a deck hatch would eventually spring the hinge or bent/warp the compartment cover.

Most crappie boats with multiple seat mounts on the front do not have this issue, but most under 20 foot glass boats have the two rod lockers that would fall directly under the footprint of any double seat mount. Do any of you guys that use double seats on the front of your glass boats have any regrets/concerns about this decision.

If I drop the coin on a new bass rig, I really do not want to do anything that will cause unneeded wear on it.

I have an 18' Ranger and used a double seat rig for years, no regrets and no concerns. Most people use that same system. I switched to folding padded seat metal chairs just so I could have more room to move around. The lids on the rod lockers should last a lifetime, I don't think you will have any problems.

Got my plates on the rod box lids, they take 100% of the weight and are holding up fine and they are 26 years old, you should be fine.
I know you dont want to here it but you are buying your last boat, get in the 20 foot range and up and have it spacious and comfortable, make momma happy. You are a blessed man, your wife is your fishing partner and when fish pretty much whenever, the majority of us dont have this, make the lady happy!!!

Well, Rees, You got it figured out. My partner wants the biggest glass boat we can put in the lake. I may be looking for reasons to stay with tin, other than price. ($$$ is a good reason, btw) But if I drop that kind of change, I want this boat to last, and I sure dont want to be part of the reason that it doesn't.
