    Default Best Trout/Panfish Magnet Colors

I normally fish from a kayak and don't have a lot of storage. I like to keep everything in front of me and don't like turning around to get anything from the rear tankwell.

When I fish from shore I only wear a fishing vest so i also want to limit how much I carry there also.

I want to keep only 8 colors of trout magnets. I know Sowbug and Bison are 2 of the best colors. What 6 other colors would be best to keep on the kayak?

Red and black are my two favorite colors, in that order.

Regardless of the bait, I’d want some chartreuse, also.

We fish very similarly, except I fish out of a float tube rather than a kayak.

I considered a float tube at one time. Seems like a good option.

I have been using a float tube for 45 years and still love fishing out of one.

Like mentioned above, my number 1 is Bison, followed closely by Sowbug. Bulldog is starting to come up real fast on the hit parade - I think that reddish/black color works well. One quick story. I was wading a tail out riffle on my home stream and I yet ONCE AGAIN slipped and fell in. Well, after picking myself up and calling it a day lo and behold the Bulldog TM had a nice fat Gill that had taken it in a pocket. A strange way to end the day but the fish literally hooked itself.

I purchased several color packs from the local tackle shop. White, Chartreuse, Bison, Sowbug, and Black/Green. I have not noticed that one does better than another, but the use of Slab Sauce or a Crappie Nibble has made a huge difference.
I’ve also learned it’s best to screw the top back on the Crappie Nibbles instead of leaving it off.
