    Default Fish finder map question

Just bought a Ranger 178C it has two Lowrance Elite fish finders on it. One is a 7 and one is a five. My question is I know you can buy maps from like Navtronics. My question is, what do these maps show and are they worth it? Also, can you buy other CHIPS that fit in these slots that you can record information on? As you can tell I don't know much about fish finders or atleast advanced ones. Oh they also have CHIRP

I’m not familiar wit Lowrance, but in regard to the maps, yes they are most definitely worth the money. The good ones show contours and depths in great detail with the ability to adjust depth manually, which is big when fishing flood control lakes. I use Lakemaster, but hear that Navtronics is good as well.

There is no better way to learn than just turn it on and start playing with it. Also, google videos. There’s everything imaginable out there and you can learn tons about your stuff watching those videos.
