I'm new to trolling on inland lakes and curious as to what you use for trolling crankbaits n the summer when the crappie go deep after spawning. Any suggestions for rigging for long lining in 20-50 feet is appreciated.

Thanks Everyone So I've narrowed it down to 10lb high vis mono with durolock snaps. Getting excited to try my hand at it.

I too use 20# braid simply because of the big toothy critters we have down South "gar fish and big catfish" it saves a lot of money on lost crankbaits. The 20# braid is thinner in diameter than the 10# mono.

I like 10 or 20lb braid, and a short mono leader for ease of tying. Used many different brands, they all work about the same.
The smaller diameter of braid gives you more dive depth with less line out.
I use 10 lb power pro yellow braid with a snap lock and to really get deep 3’ above the crankbait and I use a Offshore Tackle snap weight plus Precision Trolling app on phone to get the cranks super deep. Don’t have to use the snap weights that often, but they do work in the heat of summer.
