I see no reason why you couldn't tie a leader line onto the hook or hook ring ... and put a jig or "fly" on the end of it.

I'm just curious about two things :

    1) why do you have to use a 1/2oz spoon ?
    2) are you calling Bass a "big green sunfish" .... or are you actually trying to catch big Green Sunfish ?

That will work, tie in jig above spoon.

used a 1/2 spoon for bass, had over 20 in afew hours all released. i have caught 10-12 inch green hybrid gills earlier this year and was hoping to get them on a trailing fly. i do well with the kastmaster but may try a foley spoon for a slower fall.

Are you using the 1/2oz spoon for casting distance ?? They make Kastmasters in smaller sizes if you need a slower fall.

But, yeah ... I'd tie a 1/32oz marabou Road Runner about 12-18" behind the spoon and sling it out there & see what happens !! (& don't be surprised if you still catch Bass, but on the Road Runner )

Im talking salt water now, but its common to have bucktail on a single hook and attached to the spoon with a split ring.
Bucktail trebles are often used also and attached the same way. Hopkins is another brand spoon even more popular which also comes in the small sizes.
That one has been hammered sides on it which resemble fish scales.
