Default Opinions on Ugly Stick GX2

So let me start by saying I love my wife to death, but....... I asked for a GX2 7 ft medium action rod for hunting redfish I ended up with a 5-1/2 foot light action yes the one for kids lol. Has anyone used this and or does this sound like a suitable option for tight lining or slip bobber fishing? I guess if I don't buy her shoes she shouldn't buy my poles.. just saying

I dunno, bro .... slip float fishing I use a 8ft rod (to take up slack line on the hookset). Might be OK for close quarters casting, creek wading, or dock shooting ... but, I don't "tightline" enough to know if a rod that short would work. I guess it would if it would fit in a rod holder. (I'm referring to "tightline" fishing as fishing straight down over the side of the boat, & the boat is tied off or anchored)

Maybe if she kept the receipt, you could take it back & exchange it for the one you wanted ...

I dont think it has to be a "just for kids" rod. I have a 4'8 and a 6' myself. I dont bring the little out much but when i do get lucky enough to catch something on it, the fight is fun. Caught a 2 ft long bowfin on the 6 footer so i can vouch for them being VERY strong rods.

I use 5.5' Ugly Stiks for my slip bobber set ups. I also have an Ugly Stik Lite that is flexible for crappie. Ugly Stiks are great rods and seldom break. Any rod that lasts me more than a year is a good rod and mine have lasted now for over 5 years each. I own 13 total Ugly Stik rods. I have about 24 other rods for other fishing.

I've got a 30" medium heavy gx2 ice combo i use for vertical jigging on docks, works really well. A couple guys that fish where i do use the 5 1/2' rods and are very pleased with them.

I have two 5' lite GX2 and two 7' GX2 Elite. I bought them on purpose and they both have their purpose.
