I realize this is an older thread but I'm new here and need to make my first post so... I have two livewells in my 18' Xpress and use them for storage. I don't fish tourneys and don't like catching the same fish twice, so the livewells are plugged and used for storage. I throw my catch into my 48qt Igloo and clean and filet them at the marina cleaning station before going home. I got tired of spending money for ice every trip and freezing gallon jugs of water takes up too much room in my freezer, so I bought some "Cooler Shock" reusable ice packs. I put two in the bottom of my ice chest, and they are still frozen after a full (9 hour) day of fishing, even with me opening the cooler and frequently adding fish. I got the large hard plastic Cooler Shocks, the ones with handles on the ends.
