yes they are very nice reels. I have several of them. I like going with he smallest that you can find.
Is this reel any good. If so, what size would be best for 8 ft. Ultra Light Rod?

If you're going to use the outfit for casting purposes, I recommend whatever size/weight reel that will balance that length rod. By that I mean you should be able to stick your finger out and lay the rod/reel on that finger at the very front end of your rod handle .... and it would pretty much balance there.
It's okay for the rod tip or handle end of the rod to slowly tip towards that end, but what you don't want is for it to quickly drop towards either end ... especially towards the tip end. Tip heavy outfits are going to be hard on your wrists/forearm, while handle heavy outfits are just going to "feel" heavier than they should. An almost balanced outfit is going to feel lighter in hand & serve as an extension of your arm, plus put less stress on your wrist/forearm during a day of casting.
I have 4 of them on WM Speed Shooter Combos. 2 on 7 ft rods and 2 on 5’6” rods. They are smooth casting durable reels and pair up with the rods very well. They are ML rods if that helps you. I think they are reasonably priced and come from a great manufacturer. Purty colors too..

I have a few of these since they are half of what a pflouger cost . They are fine little reels . No problems as this is what I use on my mid seat reels .
Wal-Mart has a sale going on right now on #20 Pflueger Presidents - $37.00. Hard to beat that on quality spinning reel. JMO.
