Bnm Bgjp's are great spider rigging rods and the cost isn't too bad.Grizzly jig has a multi rods discount that helps with the price as well.

Southern Crappie Rods are a good lower price option they are also some very tough and very good rods for spider rigging. I would also recommend going ahead and buying the 14' to start. I started with 12' and would have saved alot of money if I had just bought 14' to start. You can look over on the personal adds on here and there are several folks selling rods right now. I dont think you would be going wrong with a BNM bjgp or pst either.

Actually, Erin ... I wouldn't really recommend a 14' BnM PST for Spider Rigging ... I think the 14' BnM Capps/Coleman rod would be a much better option. I own both and a 1/2oz weight pulls the tip of a C/C down almost twice as far as it does a PST.

I have the caps and Colman rods and the pst also... the c&c are a little to whippy for me but they are amazing when fishing a light bite and light tackle... the pst has a soft tip with lots of backbone I can fish anything from a 1/4oz single jig to 2 oz power trolling... they are both great rods but the versatility of the pst surpasses the c&c!

I just bought a set of BGJP 14 ' to slow troll with (less than .5 ) . The Capps and Coleman rods are designed to fish up to two oz. of weight . PST 's are good up to 5 oz. . The Ozark signature series would be fair to do about what ever kind of like the PST. The Ozark pro series is another awesome light bite rod . I do not fish in the winter so light action rods did not appeal to me till I started fishing Bay Springs . I use 1/2 or 3/4 oz. weights 90 % of the time slow trolling or sitting on brush tops with minnows. When most power troll I am pulling cranks . A tournament guy would need at least 2 sets in my opinion . (light bite and power trolling ). Rods are like anything else on this site . lol most have owned at least 3-4 different ones over the years . Go to the next tournament in your area and walk around the parking lot at weigh in and see what they are using . Works on baits as well . If I was going to use then for spider rigging , long lining , pulling cranks , pushing cranks and was only going to buy one set , it would be PST'S or Ozark signature , but there are " Many " I have never used. Most of the guides (rees guide , feelay , come to mind ) can steer you in the right direction . I am just saying when you get a good buy on decent rods I have used the above . The buy one get one during the grizzly show was awesome , Wish I had been there .

I absolutely love my Jenko Slab City rods. I’ve had 3 or 4 different brands of rods up until this point, and liked them ok, but I absolutely love my Slab City’s. Have had up to an ounce of weight on them without any issue, but they really shine when a light bite is going on fishing lighter weights. I swear you can see the minnows getting nervous and making the rod tip wiggle ever so slightly. I also would suggest going with at least a 14’’ rod. I started with 12’’s, then went to 14’’s, and now fish 16’’s (I fish a lot of shallow stumpy reservoirs where getting the bait away from the boat/trolling motor makes a big difference). You’re not being “cheap” going with Jenko’s. They’re quality rods.
