I have done it for years . Boat positioning is so easy to change with new technologies but Anchors have been here much longer .
Im missing some good fishing because i cant seem to win against the wind! I think i have good boat control skills but my spots are in big water 25ft deep and im steering into the wind fighting to stay on a marker bouy. Any reason I couldn’t drop an anchor and stop my drift close to my marker. I cant afford spot lock but an anchor is easy to come by?

I always anchor when fishing deep water (which is most of the time ) limit out most nights and if I kept smalls, I would have well over the limit

Sure. Anchor up wind and throw out the back of the boat onto whatever you are fishing. Only if you are SURE your anchor will hold though, you dont want to be drifting back over your structure dragging an anchor. Save your pennies and try to pick up a spot lock trolling motor though, it will change your life. It was extremely hard for me to buy mine, I sacrificed some and wondered if it was going to be worth it... let me tell you, it is. It makes fishing offshore so much easier! Literally press a button and you are not going anywhere.
