Default question about using multiple rods

i guess it depends if you just want to catch fish for food or for sport but id think spider rigging having out tons of poles while drift fishing wouldnt be as fun cause your just sitting there waiting for a fish to come on wouldnt it be much more fun to just use minnows on other rods with a cork and use a small lure/jig with your main pole?

i just dont see the fun in just throwing out a bunch of jigs and using the boat to move them

There are lots of different approaches to many of the things we do.
Best thing is keeping an open mind till you've tried them all.
Fact is though more rods can account for more fish caught.
What you do with them is optional.

Minnows and a cork is just waiting for fish to come on. Spider rigging isn't my thing either though. I just love to feel a fish bite a jig too much I guess.

I'd "rather" catch them casting a jig, but there are times when they just ain't shallow some or all parts of the day. Then is when I break out the long rods & Push my jigs out in open water. I don't "Spider Rig" per se, as that method is a slow/methodical way & requires knowing where a lot of brush piles are. I Push jigs when the fish are roaming open water & following Shad schools. I cast to them when they're around cover or on the banks (& in <15fow). Before I had long rods, I would cast the banks & around timber (standing or fallen), and when that bite was over I'd usually start trolling for other species (usually Hybrid Stripers) or cast the "jumps" (if there were any) just for some pullage action ... or saddle up and head home. My long rods just give me an alternate method of fishing for the species I'm really looking to catch.

id like to take crappie fishing like bass fishing id keep like 2 poles out with minnows that i watch while using a lure on one i think would be the most fun

also a question about what artifical baits to not use from shore do you think swim baits or crank baits may not be a good choice for bank fishing? i was told jigs and maybe a rooster tail small spinner are the only things you should use from the banks

Spider rigging is my least liked way to catch crappie, but, I do spider rig. Sometimes, I just want to relax and let the boat and poles, do the work.

You’re gonna lug a minnow bucket around while fishing from shore?

Since when is spider rigging not doing anything. You have to watch a number of poles, keep the boat in fishable water, and watch the depth finder. I don't call that doing nothing. Keeps you busy.

You sit there in a chair and watch rods waiting for a fish to hit, then lift them to the surface and net them. It literally cannot get any easier in terms of "doing something". Not that it isnt extremely effective and can be quite fun, but its right up there with bottom fishing catfish in terms of actually fishing.

Everyone has their own opinion. No need to bash someone for theirs. I’d rather feel the thump myself. But I don’t diss anyone for spider rigging or any of that kind of fishing. Just a matter of opinion.
