Is it possible to fly fish for crappie?

Yes, but most people prefer to fly fish for bluegill and bass because they are more inclined to hit topwater flies. As CP said, small streamers would be best.

There are times when a fly rod will outfish conventional gear. Like crappie on the bed or when they are shallow. Throw 1/100 oz jigs that make no noise when they splash down and slowly flutter to the bottom. Silent and deadly. You can cover an amazing amount of water with a fly rod because you spend no time reeling. I pour 1/100 oz jigs on a size 6 little nasty hook and tie either maraboo tail or squirmy wormy. Killer. I do not like to fish more the 4 or 5 feet deep with them.

We ain't trout fishing! Style points don't fill coolers. Lure time in the water at the correct depth and speed do. Sometimes, the fly rod is the correct tool to accomplish that goal.
