Well even the pro's don't catch consistently. I would say that the best all around thing to do is just stay after them. The more time spent out on the water fishing the more you will learn from what the fish will teach you.

Try keeping a record of your fishing trips. Conditions, technics, and results. Patterns will begin to develop. I do better as I spend more time on the water. I have hit a limit as to how much time on the water. I refuse to fish more than 5 days a week.

I don't know what method you fish. It is good to learn different methods if not catching one method try another. The two main lakes I fish is 11/2 hr. trip,I always take minnows with me I love to catch them on jigs but will not shy away from the minnows if needed.

Assuming you understand seasonal patterns that crappie tend to follow you might want to be sure you are using the right patterns for the season that you are in. More specifically, you would not want to fish in the heat of the summer in the same way that you would fish when the crappie are spawning.

In previous decades we would read books written by people like Al Linder and others to learn such things. These days you would just watch some You-tube videos. If you were here I would just take you and show you. Not that I am all that generous it's just that a rookie provides a lot of comedy during a fishing trip.

For the most part I understand there patterns. I just can't seem to get bit at time on jigs or minnows either one even when I can see fish that should be crappie on my graph. I know this cooler wheather in Arkansas should bring them up to shallower brush and I am looking forward to that.

Fish with ones that know the waters and seasons , even if you need to hire a guide. Build you some Crappie Condos . Spend all the time you can trying different areas and techniques when what your doing doesn't work . I catch limits over 90 % of the time but it has taken years of work . I don't use anything but jigs
