    I've always believed in any type of fishing, that you should use the smallest weight you can get by with

    Yes, that would work for the (unweighted) 1/2" Thill slip bobber,but the (weighted) 1/2" Thill would sink.

    Just buy the cheap Comal sty foam peg type floats and test and cut them off at each end with a pocket knife till they float the jig weight the way you want them.
