Lost two buzz baits using a palmar knot . Would I be better not tying braid to bait s ? Old dog trying new tricks . Is power pro 20 lb. test ok for bass ?

I tie PowerPro 10/2 straight to my baits with a Improved Clinch knot. Now, let me clarify ... my braid is not new, and it does hold the knot. When it was new (& slick) that knot was subject to slipping open. What I did was continue to use the knot, but tied a double granny in the tag end, then the Improved Clinch ... and when cinching the IC knot down, I kept pulling it until the granny knot slipped up against the IC knot & would go no further. Now that the "slick" is worn off, the granny knot is no longer necessary. The RoadRunner jig on that outfit has been there for over 2yrs and dozens of fish (& dozens of hangups) later ... the knot is still strong.
I've seen the "Pro" angler crowd use 50-80lb test braid, so I don't think 20# braid is overkill for Bass.

Only thing I use braid for anymore is a frog or buzz frog and I use a Palomar Knot. Otherwise I don't care for braid
