I started in the 70's with Ambassadeurs, everything I use is left hand drive. Found the Shimano's in the 80's and have had many of those since. Back then I only had about 3 rods and reels, Imagine that! I used a Bantam 201 til I wore it out. Have stuck with shimano's ever since with great results, and still use ambassadeurs for heavier baits. The things are built like a truck. Had a few Quantums along the way, but these were lower end and I didn't care for them. Reels, like everything else, have come a long way in the last few years so I'm sure there are new offerings that measure up. I still have one of my Shimano Bantams, a 251, 2 Curado's, and an Ambassadeur. Love em all. Hey Todd.

First baitcaster I ever owned was an Ambassadeur 5500C (grey) :D ... and I'd probably still have it today, if it hadn't been stolen. Bought it in the early 70's .. paid $50 for it. (that was almost a whole paycheck, back then :p )

The only Ambassadeur I still have, is a 2500C ... which is on a old flyrod, and used for minner fishing for Crappie :p
I used to have a 5000 (red) but traded it off. Used to have several Daiwa bc reels ... but, wore them out too quickly to stay with that brand

As little as I Bass fish, I've turned two Bass rods over to Crappie fishing outfits ..... a 6' Browning MH w/graphite Tenn handle & Shimano Spirex 2000 FD (PowerPro 10/2) ---- and --- 7' Bionic Blade IM8 w/Shimano Spirex 2000 RD (4lb mono). But, that's OK .... I've got plenty of rods/reels to do either kind of fishing with

    ...cp

Bought a Shimano Curado last yr and honestly Im not 100% satisfied. It was recommended I put new line on and see how it shapes up. Bought two Rick Clunns on clearance but havent had a chance to try em out yet. Hopefully the Curado straightens up or its gone....Jack

I got a great deal on a Shimano Calcutta 151 today thanks to Skeetbum. I will have a left handed Rick Clunn baitcaster for sale at a great price once I get the Calcutta fixed up. If anyone is interested in the Rick Clunn just let me know.
