    Default KDWPT Fisheries Newsletters

There's been several KDWPT Fisheries Newsletters being sent out to subscribers over the past couple of weeks. These newsletters are written by KDWPT fisheries biologists and pertain to their assigned districts across the state. All distributed newsletters can be found on the KDWPT website at https://ksoutdoors.com/KDWPT-Info/News/Newsletters .

If the current cold, windy, rainy weather is keeping you off of the water this week then reading some fishy newsletters may help you pass the time!

    Tight lines!

I know it probably not your area but I have caught at least 6 to 8 Black nose crappie at Pamona the last few weeks. They were all about 6 to 8 inches, did the state stock them or are they reproducing naturally. I caught one that had a wide black stripe on top and a thin black line on his bottom lip to his gills. Its the first time I've seen a black stripe on the bottom of the lip. Thanks for all you do and keep up the good work.

    skeeter96,

KDWPT has not stocked any blacknose crappie. Seems to be increasing angler reports of blacknose over the years.

More KDWPT Fisheries Newsletters have been released recently! My El Dorado District Newsletter Spring Edition came out last week. You can download the PDF HERE.

Plenty of other newsletters also from across the state at the link in the first post of this thread.

Hope ya'll are staying dry! I got soaked three times yesterday before the lightning ran us off the lake!

    Tight lines,

I've caught some at perry also,so if state isn't stocking where are they coming from? Have also seen reports of some being caught in clinton.

    Rick,

A likely source would be private pond owners obtaining the blacknose from fish dealers for stocking into private ponds within the watersheds of federal reservoirs. During storm events the blacknose get flushed from the ponds and head downstream.
