Default Grass In Twenty Feet of Water at Hillsdale Lake???????????????

The reason I ask is from hearing a thirdhand story about some folks reporting they were having some very good luck at catching limits by fishing in twenty feet of water where they were seeing grass on the bottom with their sonar. They were not looking for shad pods or individual fish marks only hanging their jigs in the grass on the bottom and catching fish.

I don't have any doubts about their success in catching limits or seeing something on the bottom with their graphs that might make them think it was grass but I do doubt that there is any grass to be found in twenty feet of water in Hillsdale Lake with its common and usual water clarity.

My simpleton understandings of basic requirements for any grass growth would require sufficient sunlight for photosynthesis to occur and I don't think there is enough light penetration in twenty feet of water to grow grass in Hillsdale.

I fish Hillsdale all the time. I've never found grass in twenty feet. Only at the back of coves on the east side in 6 feet or less. I've seen grass growing in ponds at 10-15 feet. But that was only in years of very little rain. Which, we haven't seen for the last 4-5 years

I agree with you Lee. Not much of anything growing 20 feet down in our Kansas reservoirs.
