Walleye Stocking Event

On Tuesday, October 3, fisheries biologists from the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) will begin releasing young walleye into El Dorado Reservoir as part of the Kansas Walleye Initiative – a new program designed to improve walleye fishing opportunities in the state’s lakes. This stocking is significant because these fish were raised with a new method at the Milford Hatchery and are much larger than walleye normally stocked. The larger size should result in a much higher survival rate and an immediate impact to the lake’s walleye population.

The event marks the beginning of a two-day effort to release approximately 16,000 8-inch to 10-inch walleye into the lake.
