Default article in kansas department of wildlife

it is saying that ks is going to build new fish habit using PVC. the article shows corrugated pipe and PVC. I think the corrugated pipe is the PVC black. if this is true are they going to take the shine off the pipe, and I was wonder if they were going to use some type of cement to sink.

    thank you

NEW FISH ATTRACTORS FOR KANSAS LAKES / Fishing / KDWPT - KDWPT
I like it just hope that they are built solid and can be located. Have heard that inmates at El Dorado jail have been building fish attractors wonder if these are it.

I saw this the other night as well. Be interesting to see how well they take off with this project.

Craig, if you need volunteers to help with these, let me know as I would be more then willing to come help build or sink them.

Those look like they ought to last a long time. I wonder if they will post the gps coordinates online when they are done?

Get coordinates, once they are there and grow algea they can be tough to find. Put some in and thought I would have no trouble locating, went back a few months later and had to real look and turn up the sensitiviy. Nice thing about them is tough to get hung on and will last along time.

Seems like a good idea and some biologists and helpers already put out a bunch of natural piles, but realistically I wonder how the heck these are going to hold up to boats anchoring over them and dragging their anchors and several thousand pound boats and motors thru them. Not trying to be negative but compared to actual trees and branches these things would appear to be super light (with the exception of the cinder block anchors) and fragile compared to a natural brush pile. Seems like a boat dragging achor could displace them good distances and break them up?

Here's a link to a video put together by the KDWPT Fisheries Chief Doug Nygren which gives additional info on the habitat structures.

Edit... I updated the old link with a YouTube link as some folks were having problems viewing the original link.
