Default Dead drum all over Lower LOZ

Last weekend it seemed as there were thousands and thousands of floating drum all over from the dam, in most coves, and as far down as the 4mm and probably farther.
Has anyone seen this or have any ideas as to what causes this?

There were low oxygen conditions last week and drum are usually the first the succumb.

That's interesting, I'm guessing because they are bottom feeders? But what would cause low O2 levels, and do they change weekly and why? Might be a silly question but just curious.

Hot water holds less oxygen and drum require more oxygen than other species. They're usually the first to die when oxygen levels drop. Microscopic algae is really blooming right now, you may have noticed the water is greener than earlier in the year. When there are large algae blooms the oxygen levels can fluctuate wildly overnight and during the day. The algae make oxygen when the sun is shining but on cloudy days and overnight they use oxygen. When the blooms are high, oxygen levels can boom during the day and crash overnight. Fish will be more actively feeding late on a sunny day when this occurs.
