Default Spring Crappie Fishing On Lake Conway

I haven't been on Crappie.com in a few years. I hope it's still a good place to find some info. I plan to do some kayak fishing in the Gold Creek area on Lake Conway in late March or early April. I checked the Conway forum and didn't see very many current threads but I assume there are still some crappie.com folks fishing there. I've caught a few crappie on Lake Greeson over the years but never fished Conway. I've driven over Gold Creek on I-40 dozens of times and always thought it looked like a good place to catch some crappie in the shallows. Any suggestions? I'm hoping to find them spawning and hoping someone here can give me their best guess as to the best timing for that. Jig size and color might be helpful as well. I don't plan to use live bait.

Hey Jerry! Good to hear from you again. Haven't been on here much myself for a few years. I don't fish Conway but when I was younger we would drive around back by the AGFC shooting range and slide a 12 ft flat-bottom boat in Green's Lake area. It was always late March/ early April when we did the best. It was right when the lily pads were just starting to open up. We would have a ball casting small beetle spins in a crawdad color on ultralite rods. Good Luck!

I worked there while in college from 89-96. Used to fish Conway and Grassy a lot back then. Only made random trips since 2015. Crappie fishign has always been great but those redears!!! Heckuva lake.

Conway is tough in spring nowa days...
but back in 80's and 90's you could cruise the banks casting black and char jigs and catch many crappie and bluegills in late March/April. The Bluegill on the banks and the Crappie around the Docks.
