Default Moved lakes and kept on hammering .

Sure was cold and foggy this morning . Sure was praying for my friends fishing up in Branson today in Walley's Tournament . Kept a limit and released about that many more . Swung them all with Huckabee 13' Phantom and same Timmy Tom insert jig head and Purple/Chartreuse Umbrella tube . Pressure killing some small lakes but figure I will get more done to reduce limits and up length limits by hammering them every day . Releasing them all won't help much with so many livescoping , just like I am . Hope we can get all AGFC lakes and others under 200 acres reduce limit to 15 and look at size limits . Blue Mtn folks got the limit reduced to 20 from 30 starting I think next year , I hope the study that is going on at Nimrod addresses the overpopulation of short fish . I seldom fillet any fish these days , either give to friends or release them . Some guides are wearing out the lakes and only answer will be reduced limits . Till then I will hammer them every day I can . Maybe a boat limit like Mississippi has ?

    Another limit for a friend

CA - we all know you are a world class crappie fisherman. Just because you can catch and keep a limit at will, doesn’t mean you have to just to prove a point. Do as you feel you need to. It’s not a good look though. But whatever floats your boat.

Y’all have fun on this site and send me an email or call my work phone number if needed. It’s been a fun 9 years. I’m out! Peace!

So wait. You complain about the guides live scoping and keeping limits everyday and want lower limits, when you’re doing the exact same thing? How does that make sense? Practicing what you preach comes to mind.

I was releasing a bunch and then seeing all the big hauls everyday . I am trying to get people to see how much pressure on small lakes . I don't even keep most but give them to others not catching and friends . I figure it will give them information how many are catching . They lowered limit of Blue Mtn because locals requested it . We have lots of people hammering small lakes and need the Commission to set up and take notice . Saw 10 boats yesterday . only 1 spiderrigging and one old school . Look like the rest livescoping . I am old and half blind . The young boys that can see are wearing it out . I got several wanting me to guide them . With covid most places getting pressure like I have never seen . Lower limit would be fine with me , but how much good does releasing my fish and 10 around me on a week day hammering them ? I figure we need to request lower limits and size limits of some lakes . If I turned loose every fish how much attention to this would it bring to need for AGFC to look at limits ?

End of pandemic and folks getting back to work will go a long way.....I’m guilty of doing zoom calls with iPad sitting next to boat electronics (multitasking). I’m almost 60 plus there’s a generation of youth bass anglers doing the same thing instead of being in classroom. This so called “hoax” has definitely changed fishing landscape.

Man.... I have come to respect your knowledge and appreciated your input on fishing in general. To some folks fishing is only about stacking them in the boat. If they don't stack them they feel like the trip was for naught. Too bad for them! Your post in the bream threads of creeks fishing with your son in beautiful areas looked like awesome trips.

CA, I don't disagree with you about the pressure on the small lakes. I have a small lake near me and when the fish start moving towards the beds in the spring, you have to take your own tree out there to have a place to fish. 30 fish taken by the number of people fishing that 300 acre lake is to much in my opinion. With that many people out there, I just don't fish it. But going and keeping a limit each time is not the way to raise awareness. We have some good biologists and fisheries people working for the AGFC and I know they run population samples from time to time. Their job is to keep the fishery healthy and I think they do a great job. Sometimes Mother Nature takes over as it has done on Dardanelle and nature will correct itself.

You said you keep very few but give them away. If you harvest 30 fish per day on 20 days a month, that's 600 fish. Over 10 months, that's 6000 fish! Those you see livescoping, are you sure they are keeping a limit? Do they fish as much as you? Probably not

You mentioned the over abundance of small fish in Nimrod. You, yourself, have stated that you won't keep anything under 12 inches. You complain about small fish, but you won't do your part in eliminating the small, stunted fish. I have to agree with D-10. Your actions don't follow your dialog.

Nimrod - I do not understand your rationale on hammering out limits every trip in order to influence game and fish limits - it would be about like me trashing up all of the areas that I fish because I hate it when people litter up God's beautiful creation and I really do not think that the laws on littering are strict enough and never enforced. Also, we have some really dedicated agfc employees which, for the most part, are committed to making our Arkansas fishery some of the best in the country. I really regret it when people like Matt and others leave this forum - they will be missed.

You can't really blame Matt and other Wildlife management professionals for leaving when amateurs keep telling them how to do their job.

Kind of like a High School quarter back telling Tom Brady what to do.
