Someone needs to put a cross up because it has died. Worst it has been in 45 years.

It has hit a low cycle which happens every few years on the east end . Good news is lots of small fish there now , Shad are back , and AGFC have put a 10'' length limit starting next year . Just wish it was a 12'' length limit . Some areas still producing good Crappie just lower numbers . Dardanelle is bad cyclic .

I hope that area will rebound quickly we love to fish the lake. I watched a lot of the recent crappie masters on Dardanelle and they also struggled to find quality fish. It did appear that the better stringers were coming from the west end. A lot of the tourney guys attributed the arkansas river flooding to the poor fishing but the cyclable thing that Nimrod suggested also makes sense. I know this past spring we fished the Illinois Bayou area three or four times with only one fairly productive outing and on every instance we caught several short fish. Oh well, Better days ahead.

Took one of the biolgists out there the day they had 2019 Crappie Masters . He commented how big the fish were and said with all big ones we were headed for a crash . Then this past April it was really looking that way with mostly huge ones . Caught some big strings just not big numbers . Caught 13 over 2 lbs one day !

Not on Dardanelle it is huge . It has a down cycle every several years . Can be one of the lakes you can catch 100+ one year then half that the next . Get where mostly catch just a few big ones . Then you start seeing mostly dinks and cycle repeats . Shad disappeared in some areas after the record flood .Even Bass fishermen were talking about it . Spring of 2019 it was evident something going on and the biologists with AGFC were telling some people ''all big fish , they are old . Expect a population crash '' But the good thing is a couple good spawns and with fast growth 2 year old in Dardanelle can be a keeper ''the fishing returns
