Default Dog days of summer and hot water Crappie

Huckabee Phantom jig pole rigged with Timmy Tom insert jig head and purple/chartreuse Umbrella tube hammers another limit with live scope . Did lots of looking around today . Some areas muddy after the rains but was able to find plenty . The ones on brush not too interested but open water fish bit just fine .

Gonna try to find some in open water tomorrow. Jon boat with an old 999 si for the guy in back and livescope up front. figure I will try Shirey bay off Black River. We have been catching a few until a couple of weeks ago. They are sure not in the laydowns. They have to be suspended But where? Also, Should I run the 999 on SI or DI? Bird DI wasn't that great back when this came out.Thinking of running it on SI looking about 60 feet out. water should only be 15 or 16 feet deep so may pull back to 50. Gonna be a strange day and I have no confidence. But you have to try it sometime.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

Side image should pick up suspended fish . Not anything like live scope will . Just do lots of looking . They should be using same depth once you find a few

I’m going to have to learn how to chase down slabs in open water. I sure can’t get the ones on brush to bite. Love my livesope but aggravating watching fish look at your jig and swim away. Nice catch. You sure have it figured out. Nice job.

There are times when fish don't bite good on cover . Big ones suspended or on bottom out from cover . I think those are actively feeding . They do usually seem to be more prone to bite for me . Takes some practice with live scope but beats spider rigging for me . You just hunt them down on open flats. One pole and not worried about am I fishing the right depth or speed !
