    Default Two limits on Beaver

Long line trolled 1/8 oz jigs on beaver Saturday and Sunday. Fishing 13-20 Fow next to channel. Fish were super aggressive and wanted the jigs pulled fast. Mostly trolled 1.5 mph to 1.6. Kept a limit both days and released the rest. All kinds of fish were using the same area. Caught 5 species and lots of cats on jigs. On 6 pound test and 14 foot rods those cats were more than we could handle. Landed a few around 7 pounds and broke off a few bigger ones.

I’ve been trying to figure Beaver out since February. Most of my trips have been 5-8 crappie in 4 hours. This time I made an educated guess based upon what I knew and where I thought the fish should be. I may not have em figured out forever but the last two trips have sure been good. I was also amazed at how aggressive these fish are. If I slow down, no go. Have to be moving fast and get the jigs up in the water. I’m still learning but that’s half the fun.

I have been finding them in 20-30fow on cedar trees. I have been fishing from Prairie Creek all the way into Big Clifty. Just about in any cove I have been in. You just have to find the one or two trees in that cove.

Sorry I didn’t see this until now. I long line troll. Lately 1/8 oz jigs in natural colors. I was up the white river.
