If you like pan fishing grab some crickets as Ouachita has slab bream action this time of year.

I'm headed there this week to camp with the family. Is anyone familiar enough with that area of Lake Ouchita to put me on some silver fish?

He's right.......crappie are fun, but seeing them little red & white corks pop under with a big ole bluegill or redear on the other end is some serious fun! I've been doing some brimmin' myself lately down here at White Oak Lake. Doing pretty good too.
The good Bream tend to be much deeper in that clear water . Most I know say Crappie need to stay way off brush and cast or they spook .

I have not been in a couple of weeks but they were starting to get on the brushpiles then. Go to the pockets on the major creek channels (From State Park try Blakely to Rabbit) on the North side and look for brush in 15-20' of water to start. Go deeper if you have to but probably not deeper than 30'). The fishing can be good there.
How was Ouachita? It’s beauty can offset a bad fishing trip

I was there with my wife and two kids. We camped with my brother-in-law, his wife and their two kids. We didn't get a chance to fish much and zero crappie fishing.
It was my first time on Lake Ouchita and I was blown away by how pretty it is down there. Beautiful! Maybe I'll try to fish it sometime, but this trip ended up being just relaxing and fun.
