    Default Long lining white river

Finally got the kid away from video games long enough to go try our hand at long line trolling. 6 rods with 1/16 jigs. Mostly caught fish on flats 11-13 feet deep. This was our first try at long lining so we stayed out fairly deep trying not to get snagged. Lots of snacks were consumed!

first fish of the day was this striper. JL had a blast with this fish on a 14 foot rod and 6 lb line. Can’t believe we actually landed it.

Finally found a few crappie. Kept 4 and caught several smalls. JL let dad reel in the smalls. If it looked big dad wasn’t allowed to help.

With a cooler full of drinks and snacks, a good time was had by all.

Great trip with the kid. Congrats.

Yeah my plan for the day was to focus on him having fun. Thus a full cooler with plenty of snacks and drinks. Also, apparently crappie nite best while listening to purple rain on the cell phone. Who knew?

Looks like you boys had a good time. That striper looks longer than that young mans leg, I bet he put up a good fight. At certain times, we also hook up with nice sized stripers while crappie fishing Beaver.

Yeah I doubt I’ll get to reel in a crappie over 7 inches if he’s in the boat. That’s the plan though! Hopefully he will stay interested.
