    Default Livescope making changes

How has adding Livescope to your arsenal changed the way you fish? For several years I have been spider rigging out of a Hobie Pro Angler 12 Kayak with 4 poles with pretty good results. Now with Livescope I only use two 14' poles about 5' apart modified with rear seat reels. I will ease along scanning left and right until I see a crappie on the left or right and then I steer the closest pole toward the crappie while I crank the Solo reel up or down to intersect the oncoming crappie. This method is becoming pretty effective. The hardest part is keeping you eyes on the rod tip instead of the screen when the crappie has turned on the jig and just staring at it. I would love to here your unique new methods made possible with Livescope.

It helps me by telling me real fast whether there are fish there, are they interested in what I am throwing, or if they are not hungry and it's time to move on. That was one of the biggest things I struggled with.. trying to make something happen in a spot and wasting way too much time.

It's kinda hard to articulate, I think.

I find myself using much more weight than ever before. 1. Get the bait down to the quickly (before they or the boat move much). 2. For visibility in the screen.

I know immediately if the fish are there and if they are large enough to catch.

After a bit of time you kind of get a sense just by how a fish is behaving if it will bite (Not always)

I now believe profile matters more than color does. Color is almost a pattern in the pattern. If that makes sense.

They are much more spooky than I ever dreamed.

Jake I haven't played a lot with changing baits yet but that is on my list of things to start experimenting with. I also am adding a weight above my jig if I'm jigging a brush pile. It seems to serve two purposes. First as you say it helps to get on the fish faster and second it helps you to distinguish your bait as you see two things moving in unison. Something I tried this weekend is a dropshot weight that clips on to the line. If I get hung I can pull my rod tip up to my bait by making it slide down to the bait and it stays in place until I need it to slide down. I like the profile idea. I am going to work on that. Thanks. I see you are in Van Buren, where do you fish mostly. I used to live there.

Have you seen the new livescope update called perspective? You can buy a new mount and turn the transducer sideways.

I just looked at it today. Looks like it may be good for spring fishing

I fish Wister lake the majority of the time. Eufaula, Tenkiller, and Kerr as well. I've started going to Clear Creek lately too but the river keeps me guessing there.

I've noticed that crappie will bite the weight sometimes, that's my only concern about that drop shot method. I can see the usefulness though.

I have seem many times crappie staring at the weight then "ThUMP". Yes they will hit the weight. I have noticed more time though that they will move to the weight first then move to the each bait and then move on. It seems usually that a fish that i interested in the weight will only sniff the baits. I can't wait to fish this spring with livescope. I've only had mine from last summer through the winter. I've seen people onlinee selling weights with hooks on them. I've heard some of the Oklahoma lake have some monster crappie in them. I need to try them out.
