    Default New Equipment

Just purchased a hummingbird Helix 7 with SI and DI yesterday. Gonna get it installed and I'm most positive that my days are gonna be filled with lots of confusion since I have never used fish finders before and everyone says they are hard to read and understand to a newbie.

I would suggest you go to YouTube and watch as many of the videos you can stand on how to install setup and operate your unit. It will take a little to understand but once you get it you will be amazed.. also get you a power supply and bring it in the house. You can put it in simulator mode and play with the adjustments for hours.

Huminbirds are user friendly . Read everything about them and watch videos , then it will be just time on the water . I have 1199 SI , Helix 10 SI , Helix Mega 12 SI and also a Garmin 1242xsv with livescope . I was afraid of being able to use this stuff several years back but think I learned pretty well .

Might be a ways from you, but I just had Wolfe Boat Works in Rogers install a helix 9 and an ultrex for me. They did a nice job and a clean install. For installing the 7 at the console I’d probably just YouTube it and install myself.

Bass Pro Shop in Little Rock used to have electronics classes for free certain nights . Call and ask the guy in Electronics if they still do .

If your at all mechanically inclined it is easy . Some boat shops are bad expensive on labor . If your thinking of buying livescope call Geared and talk to Evan Barnes or contact him on facebook . I bet he could hook you up on price and getting it installed if needed .

Almost all are super easy to do these days...if you want to save some $$ that is. A wire snake, drill, silicone, zip ties, & a a little patience is all ya need! 👍👍
