Default Freezing weather (high pressure ) sends them to the bottom

Ken Roberson from Power Crappie (Huckabee Rods ) gave me a couple new rods to try out at the Crappie Expo last week . The 9' one called a Hot Rod will be good for a spinning reel . The Phantom is a 13' jig pole for extra reach and I rigged with a bait caster . I could not believe how a 13' rod could still be light but still swing slabs . He gave me a new hat as mine had faded from the sun . Thanks Ken Roberson and Todd Huckabee . Both great guys , enjoyed meeting you both . Thanks again .

I got to try the 13' Phantom yesterday and it was amazing for such a big jig pole . Used it yesterday and think it will be a big part of my arsenal for jigging shallow water where it will help to have a longer reach . It was a bit heavier but not bad considering the length . Super strong and still plenty sensitive .

The Crappie behind this super cold front were plastered to the bottom around wood . It started off slow . I was checking for fish on wood but not seeing any . Kept looking with livescope and spotted something on the bottom tucked tight to the wood . Dropped a jig on them and bam , it was on . Nothing like seeing one turn on a jig and smack it . Started catching a few and then it warmed up when sun got overhead. They then pulled up of top of brush and started warming up or whatever . Flipped that purple/chartreuse Umbrella tube rigged on a unpainted insert jighead from Timmy Tom and they smacked it . Ran into my favorite couple from the Arkansas forums and shared the wealth. Always glad to share my catch with folks that enjoy them .

Hmmm.... Im north of ya in SEMO our water temps went from 82 a few days ago to 64 this morning. My fish moved from 12 FOW on ledges last week to 2-3 FOW chasing shad the last two days. Typical fall pattern here.

Here on some of our shallow lakes the fish been extremely shallow before the front . Low oxygen tends to push them shallow in hot weather . Opposite of deeper lakes and what most people think .

Nice catch. Good to see what they look like. Lol. Been working long hours and no time to fish. But vacation next week so some deer hunting and fishing is on the agenda! Glad to see that they can be caught.
