Default Drag Squealing on My Favorite Creek

Last Thursday through Sunday I was able to get up to north Arkansas and float my two favorite rivers/creeks for my families 21st Annual “Boys Float”. As the name implies, it’s a Boys only camping trip, so that boys can be boys. As usual we had a great time. The weather was a little on the warm side but the rivers were at perfect floating and fishing levels. Numbers were a little light but the quality was above average (for me). I caught more and bigger ones on the smaller creek. My new favorite secrete bait out-fished everyone elses offerings. In fact I used the same rig all weekend. Literally one. If you haven’t heard of the Nikko Hellgrammite and you like to creek fish, check them out and thank me later. Secret is out of the bag. It was a great Boy Float!

Looks like a JDM rod, which one? And where did you order the bait from? Thanks for the response and report.

Hey Stan - I actually opted to go with the 7’ Favorite Rods Jackhammer. It isn’t a JDM rod but it is nearly as high of quality. A buddy from work got me a really good deal on it. It is super sensitive and has more back bone than the JDM rods I have fished with. If I remember right, I ordered the baits directly from Nikko.

No PFD needed (for me) in this creek. I did have one in the boat though and I do use one on creeks in the winter and on white water. This wasn’t that kind of trip. I do wear PFD while I’m working and while fishing in the winter.
