    Default Another Creek Day

This morning I got up early and headed to a local creek. I went further up stream than I have ever been. Flow is really low now (~20 cfs) and makes it ideal for using finesse tactics while wade fishing. I used a light action rod with 3 pound line. Despite having some line issues (knot not holding main line to leader) I laid the smack down on the fish. I had another 50 fish creek day with some quality creek Spotted Bass and Largemouth Bass. Several quality bass spit the hook. I was getting a good hook set, it sure what was happening. I ended up catching 6 species (Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Shadow Bass, Longear Sunfish, Green Sunfish, and Bluegill). The most productive bait was the Niko hellgrammite. I will be bring a small canoe next time to get past the pool that stoped me. I think my Uncle will be bringing my new to me Old Town Discovery 119 next Friday. Will have to break it in. Can’t wait!

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

I saw a YouTube video of a guy using them. He was slaying fish too. I couldn’t find any local so I had to order them online. Can’t remember where exactly. They are not cheap but they are very durable.

When it gets hot out side, the only kind of boat I like to be in is a canoe on a cool creek. Or better yet, wading the creek. The creeks I fish don’t have crappie. At least not upstream where I am. Down stream there are a bunch, but it is too deep to wade. But if they did, I would try to catch them too. I’ll be back after crappie the fall. Seems like no one is really posting on here about fishing for anything so I figured I would post up what ever adventure I found myself in.

I used to love creek fishing , really need to pull out the canoe before I get too old for long float fishing trips . Great way to relax and cool off .

My Mom and Dad are both over 65. Dad turns 67 this year. I recently bought him a 65+ lifetime fishing license. They still routinely do weeklong float trips on the Buffalo River where they float camp. Dad and my Uncle Dan attempted to float the entire Buffalo from Boxley to the White River this early summer. They were flooded off the river about half way though. My Uncle Dan (who is 55), said he could tell Dad is starting to slow down just a little. Dad says age is just a number and he still feels like he is 40. I hope when I am 67 I am still trying things like floating the Buffalo through.
