    Default White Oak Lake 5-30-19

School is out and Dad and I made our first trip to White Oak Lake. Caught 14 total.......11 big ones & 3 scrapers, all caught on jigs. The old man tore me up this morning!

The "work" started when we got home and started filleting them big boys! I don't use an electric knife. I broke out the Bubba Blade on them big uns.

Nice catch. I know you sure enjoy it with Dad.

When I was a kid, I used to want to beat him soooo bad when we went fishing together and rarely ever even came close. Now, I sit up front and run the trolling motor and I try to put him right on the fish.....today it worked. I caught 4 and he caught 10, including the biggest fish of the day. He doesn't go by himself anymore and he has really been ready for me to be out of school for the summer. We'll go during the weekdays from now until school resumes in August and leave the weekends to the masses.

Those are some nice specs. It sounds like you've got a great fishing partner in your dad - hope you boys fill the freezer this summer.

Went back again today and only caught 7. Quality fish, just not as many as last week.

Thanks hawgdog, I do enjoy doing things with him and I always have. He can't take cold weather anymore because he takes blood thinners and that really limits his winter hunting & fishing. The heat and humidity gets to him pretty quick in the summer. April, May, September, & October are when he feels his best. This time of year from around 7-11 in the mornings........he's still pretty deadly on them slab crappie. He sits in the back of the boat, drinks V8 juice, chews his tobacco, and wears me out! He had the Cajun Cricket working pretty good on our last trip, but today it was the Black Night!

    I hope I'm still at it when I'm 78.
