Is this something you have seen first hand or something you have heard about? What species and what sizes? Location on Norfolk? Thanks.

There appeared to be a White Bass die-off that started last weekend (5/18-19). I was on the lake on Friday to evaluate the kill and did not observe any other species besides a couple Hybrid Striped Bass. Luckily, I was able to collect some live samples on Friday to send off to be tested by our pathologist. We don’t believe this kill is due to water quality issues. Typically, water quality issues impact all fish species and all sizes. We only found White Bass in this kill and most were similar size. Some mentioned dissolved Oxygen. DO readings were taken recently by the Norfork Lake Striper Club and everything looked normal. DO issues usually occur around Labor Day during high water years and usually only impacts Striped Bass and an occasional Walleye or Hybrid Striped Bass.

We camped this past weekend at the quarry dam site. On the lake side, Around the public boat launch and swimming area near the dam we saw at least ten or twelve white bass that were dead. The fish were so lethargic that people were catching them by hand.
I saw at least 25 dead in the dam area last saturday . Just glad it wasn't affecting other species .
