Default Loop knots for jigs or regular knots?

Does tying a loop knot that allows for the jig to hang freely really work better than just just tying the jig directly to the line? I use the loop knots but when I was kid my dad tie the line directly to the jig eyelet. It’s seems like we caught just as many when was a kid. Just looking for options.

I'm no jig pole expert , but I tie direct- no loop knot. I don't see how a 3 inch thich body jig and a 1 3/4 inch skinny jig can both hang level on the same jig head with a loop knot, but again I/m no physics major !!

I see Crappiepro loop knot hang level. I tried to fine his old post but haven't.
All men are created equal, some work harder in the preseason.

I've always tied the Jerry McKinnis loop knot because that's the one Dad taught me to tie as a kid. My cousin Randy uses the palomar knot, which has no loop. My friend Don uses a different knot than anyone else I have ever seen and it has no loop. We all catch fish. I do not believe the knot affects the fish.....just tie it on the way you know how and get after em.

Hey Lucky, I have a very dear friend in Cabot named Mike Cummings. If you know him and see him sometime, tell him the Titans fan says hello.

I use the Palomar knot for pushing and the loop knot for pulling. Both catch fish. For jigging, definitely the Palomar.
This is my first time posting on this forum. I like the subject so I thought I would comment.

I tie directly to the line because it helps when I get hung up. I can slide the rod tip down and unhook it 99% of the time if it’s shallow enough

I can do that too with the loop knot I tie.
