    Default Not a crappie!!!

Well I finally got my first solo bird. I’ve killed a few birds but all have been with my mentor Joey by my side. Welp I decided it was time to put my big. Boy britches on and go by myself. Joey is getting old and having back troubles (big gut) so went by myself. No luck early but as I was easing back to the truck this guy eased out in front of me. Not the biggest spurs or beard but I’ll take him

Nice one! In my experience the smaller one eat better any way. One time an uncle of mine bagged a huge one that almost weighed just shy of 30 pounds and had 4 beards. It was as tough as boot leather. I think it was a really old bird. The ones around 20 pounds are just about right. Good job!

Good for you! sometimes when they just arn't gobbling easing around can get you a tom. I have used ditches and creeks to getrdone at times. They wern't gobbling here in n MO but that's ok, long season.

Congratulations! You better take them when you get a chance. Over the years I'd say the vast majority of the birds I've taken were never taken in the classic fashion of a gobbler coming in gobbling his head off. But I was proud of every one of them.

Turkey hunting is a absolutely wonderful opportunity to get to learn a little more about them every day you get to hunt.Congratulations on your bird. You can look forward to your future hunts.Enjoy yourself in the woods with the birds....

I completely agree with Mac Daddy as I too highly valued and felt fortunate to kill every bird....
